Delivery, milk and otherwise

The mailman just dropped off a gallon of milk for the coming week, as he does every Thursday. I intercepted him at the door for small talk and the chance to wish him a happy fourth of July, and also because it's warm and our milk might not improve from sitting in the box by the door all day.

The expiry date is July 14th... aka the date by which we will definitely positively have a baby, because we will be inducing if things haven't gotten started on their own. That's pretty exciting, really!! We get to be moms before the milk in our fridge goes off!

The other thing I'd been meaning to post about is that our Super Extra Favorite Midwife ever appears to be on holiday for the beginning of July, but her first shift this month is July 14th. It makes me really happy that if we do end up going way late and having to induce at 42 weeks, it'll be with the caregiver who I trust most completely to be straight-up about anything that happens and whose philosophy is most in line with ours. (At our first appointment we ended up chatting with her for 45 minutes and running out of time to actually do the exam.) We just read the bios of all the midwives at the last appointment, and she not only does NOT have any homeopathic natural medicine or spirituality stuff in her bio (which is not really our cup of tea), but she also lists her hobbies as including science fiction and dessert. No wonder we get along so well, really! (On our first visit she made a Little Britain in joke to herself.)

All the other midwives are also awesome, too, and it would be great if we do not get to work with Super Favorite Midwife because our baby arrives sometime in the next week or so, so that we can have spaced out family visitors rather than everyone arriving at the same time.

However, gentle reader, please do not worry - Stephanie is feeling fine, baby is moving lots, no one is uncomfortable. The baby is NOT too big or postmature at this time, and we very much expect things to start on their own before July 14th.
