Achievements

So, a couple of things I forgot to mention earlier that Jolly's been doing.

He's still fascinated by his feet. Previously, he'd been collapsing down onto them from a seated position, so that his face lands in the vicinity of his feet, accompanied by happy chewing and then noises of distress at the fact that he'd folded himself over and couldn't get up. He's still doing this, but he's started grabbing his feet when he's lying down, and holding them in his hands... that typical baby and foot thing.

Other thing is that he's started making more noises besides the super-shrill harpy noise. The best one is the one that I refer to as the "Cappuccino-maker" because it sounds just like milk being frothed. But lots more cooing and squealing and chortling have been added to the repertoire. Only some of it is babbling, and he's not really imitating yet, but it's really fun.

And, today, Jolly upended the first food dish onto a parent at a restaurant. The restaurant in question was our favorite conveyor-belt sushi restaurant, and the dish in question was a nearly full bowl of miso soup. He managed to cover himself and also my lower half with a very quick grab and upend motion. Unlike Jolly, I did not have a spare outfit with me. However, the pants dried quickly and it was mostly just very funny, and at least my shirt was unscathed. (That lasted another couple of hours until he vomited all over it - he only spits up once in a fortnight so it's always very unexpected when it happens.)

In food adventures, on Monday he was very happy to be chewing on a banana that I was cutting to go on my sandwich, and yesterday he also chewed on celery. Totally just for fun and not expecting that he's actually ingesting more than a few molecules of the item in question, but it appears to be enjoyable and interesting, which is exactly what we're going for.
