RJ is wildly into standing up (while we hold him up, obviously). Lying and kicking is still good, especially on the sheepskin in front of the fire, but no longer the ultimate consolation it once was. Sitting is more fun, but standing up is the best ever. Ephiny thinks he'll master sitting independently sometime in the next month, as he's getting pretty close. Definitely time for us to assemble our second high chair.
He's also staring us down while eating, and making more attempts at thrashing his hands into the plate of whoever has him on her lap. One day shy of three months is too young for solids, no matter what RJ thinks, so we are not letting him... but I predict he'll be very excited when we finally allow him to eat solids. Most 18 lb babies are allowed, after all!
I've been reading old entries from the time Jolly was this age and it's so fun to be able to flash back to what Jolyon was doing. Many of the same things, plus an interest in eating fabric that RJ has skipped. But the biggest difference is that the "3 months" post for Jolly said:
"He's still in one brand of newborn onesies (Carter), and otherwise, are starting to think that the 0-3 month sleepers might be starting to get a bit short, especially in the torso and arms."Hahahahah. No wonder it seems like we hardly have time to wear clothing before it gets outgrown this time around! Instead of being on the first and second size of clothing at this age, we're on the fifth! We had a big bin-reorganizing of all of our kids clothing.
Motivated thusly, I have plotted Jolly and RJ together on the same graph.
I think it's entirely possible that RJ will at some point catch up to Jolly. We've already had mistaken instances of putting Jolly onesies and diapers on RJ, and the fit being less egregiously wrong than expected. It would be very convenient if they were wearing the same size!
