The court-appointed social worker finally got back from vacation, which explains the rather huge delay between our social worker and lawyer filing their paperwork (shortly after Jolyon's birth), and anything else happening on that front.
Anyway, having gotten back from her presumably month-long vacation, the court-appointed social worker talked to our donor to confirm that we hadn't forged or otherwise forced his signing of a release form (he'd also submitted a long time ago). That means that the confirmation of consent just got filed at long last, and that in turn meant that we could have our lawyer schedule a hearing in court. We obviously took care of that instantaneously, since we're very eager to get this process finished up, so that I can be Jolyon's parent in legal considerations as well as all other ones. Also, then we can finally get a copy of his birth certificate (I believe it will be amended so that it has my name on it as well?), and we can get even more paperwork started to get his dual citizenship rolling.
So, now we have an official court date: Wednesday, October 14th, at 4 pm! We're allowed to have as many people as we like join us in court, and we'll definitely be celebrating this happy event by going to dinner afterwards with anyone who'd like to join us. So, yeah, local folks, mark your calendars... and kids would be welcome, obviously. :)
