Baby pool

We've gotten to the point of pregnancy where people are starting to make predictions about whether we're having a girl or a boy, likely because we aren't finding out.

So, for fun, I present to you a baby pool where you can guess gender, due date/time, hair/eye color, and names. This one has a scoring algorithm that includes getting most of the sounds of the name right, and it doesn't require you to include any personal information (the blank for email is optional, but you do have to guess in all categories)... so I thought it would be a good choice! I originally set it for the imperial system of lbs and inches since that's the one that people are more familiar with in reference to babies rather than to lab equipment, but then decided that this is ridiculous and we should promote metric system literacy, so I encourage everyone to convert from lbs to kg and from inches to cm.

Some evening of the playing field: We are definitely only having ONE baby (this time around). Just above 51% of babies born are male, just below 49% are female (not due to selective abortion, but the fact that Y-carrying sperm are lighter and faster). Our due date, counting from conception, is 2009-07-01, but first babies are on average about a week late (ETA: apparently 10 days, thank you Kate!). The normal weight ranges for a baby born full-term are roughly 3 to 4 kg, with an average of 3.4 kg. Average length is 50cm, give or take a few cm. Stephanie is 1.73 m tall and has excellent nutrition, has been avoiding caffeine and other possible toxins, and has had a really healthy, smooth pregnancy so far.
