Jolly is distressed that when his friends come to our house wearing boots, they ALSO do not have chocolate in them.
He has also today been carrying his own boots around and handing them to me with a very marked persistence, like maybe sometime eventually it will relent and be filled with chocolate when he gets it back. I have no idea where one of his boots is now, as a result.
So, so funny.
Also funny is the fact that our child wants to do NOTHING else but throw himself off of the ottoman into our arms. It's like the toddler version of bungee-jumping. The look of sheer glee (and sometimes cackling) between when he lurches forward and when he is caught is impressive. He's getting more and more daring about how far he'll fling himself, and he's clearly finding it more and more fun. I predict that turning 18 will be marked by bungee jumping or skydiving, or possibly both. Heaven help us. At least he recognizes very clearly that he needs someone to catch him. He'll climb up onto the ottoman and emit high pitched shrieks until you go see what's wrong with him, at which point he'll give this enormous grin, waving his arms with excitement, and make it very clear that you absolutely must catch him now. He then hugs for a moment, squirms down, clambers laboriously on top of the ottoman, and repeats this cycle AS LONG AS YOU WILL LET HIM, but I'm sure it would be hours. I am just very, very grateful that he has learned his lesson about how throwing himself off of furniture when there is no one to catch him is not that fun actually.
