First steps, sort of

Yesterday evening Jolly took two steps from the edge of the recently delivered bed of his great-grandfather's bachelor bed (aka our "new" tv-watching sofa and guest bed), into my arms. It wasn't particularly far and was more of a hurling, and he definitely was not persuaded to do it again, but hey, sort of getting there! My parents were even on Skype for it, though I think they might have been sorting through their old furniture keys. (Long story, but the upshot is that our movers built our cabinet key into a locked drawer, and we don't want to take it apart again to retrieve the key, so we called in for backup.)

Jolly also earlier demonstrated his ability to stand on his own for a few seconds without holding onto anything.

But most of all over the last couple of days, he's been "walking" on his knees but without using his hands, which is absolutely hilarious because it's sort of like a halfway point to bipedality. I think he'll get there fully soon, now!

He's also been saying "Mum-ma" over the past few days, and may sort of be using it more purposefully than in the past. However, requests to "Show me where the Mummy is!" (in German) are still not met with accurate pointing responses to the level of "Show me where the Kitty is!" (in German), so I think right now his mastery of the word cannot yet be deemed statistically significant. :) So, right now, Jolly's definite vocabulary includes "cat" and "what's that?" - in German - the important stuff, clearly.

I have no idea what Jolly's English vocabulary is because I don't speak it with him. Ephiny will have to post about that!
