Assorted updates

Tammy's 2-month phase of "OMG you put me in my bed this is the Worst Thing That Has Ever Happened!!!" has finally ended.  She can now fall asleep in bed without having a huge fit about it.  Perhaps not coincidentally, she now has all sixteen teeth.

Current vocabulary (in rough order of acquisition): mama, truck, cat (all animals are cats), tractor, uh-oh, up, eat, achoo, hat.  "Hat" sounds just like "cat" ("at" or "dat"), but today she said it while holding a hat, so I think there was meant to be a distinction.  She says something that sounds like "tractor" while poking my belly button, but I don't think that is actually what she is talking about.

Rip has been saying "yes" instead of "eh" for a while now, but his Ys sound like Ws so it is "wes."  Today he said something "yet" which came out "wet."  So cute.

His favorite game right now is playing that he is having a party in his room, and we are invited.  Jolly likes to play this also.  There are always party favors (today it was a monster truck and a couple of duplo trucks), which are described at repeated intervals throughout the party.  There is (pretend) food - Jolly said there were healthy snacks and non-healthy snacks, and asked for advice on sorting foods into categories.  "Are donuts healthy or not healthy, mama?" (For Jolly they are healthy, because getting him to eat enough is a constant struggle.)  Sometimes there is dancing.  Today I was very tired, so there was a party nap.  Jolly even brought me a blanket and pillow.

Jolly continues to have a wonderful imagination, and loves playing dress-up.  This usually involves some sort of weapon, either a found object or crafted from duplo.  Sometimes he uses an actual toy sword, but it spends a fair amount of time put away for inappropriate use.  Current favorite characters include: superhero, ninja, pirate, knight, police officer.  We have started reading chapter books (Homer Price, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).
