In other news, we had a really wonderful evening yesterday. My favorite local band played an outdoor show in the park on our island, so we packed a picnic and brought the kids. Some friends showed up, the kids ran amok on the playground, we enjoyed the music, and a great time was had by all. Not even a spectacular diaper emergency could mar the evening, as we had a well-stocked diaper bag and the park had excellent sanitary facilities. The band ended the show with their trademark stunt, in which the lead singer LIGHTS HIS TRUMPET ON FIRE (really, something inside the trumpet), and plays it while STANDING ON THE UPRIGHT BASS. The kids were very impressed. And, they went to bed without (too much) fuss when we got home, and didn't wake us up all night! Life is good.

Stormtrooper Bob and a flaming trumpet
We are now a two-car family, and one of those cars is a minivan. Guinevere did a lot of research on the best models and years (for which I am very grateful), we found a 2006 van with only 65000 miles and one responsible owner on craigs.list, and now we have a white behemoth in our driveway. It looks not unlike a stormtrooper from Star Wars, which prompted a discussion of whether any stormtroopers had names that could be bestowed on the car. Jolly said, "Stormtroopers should be named Bob." So now the van is Stormtrooper Bob, with an "official" name of TK-421 (as pointed out by a friend, this is the call sign of a stormtrooper in the movie). We even ordered a stormtrooper-themed license plate frame, to replace the sports-themed one that came with the car. I feel like I have undergone some kind of phase transition into Someone Who Owns a Minivan, but this state is indistinguishable from Someone with 3 or More Children.
