It had to happen...

That day has finally come. No, not the first "oh, do you have twins?" -- that already happened last month. But Rip's head is now bigger than Jolly's. Casual measurements of squirmy babies indicated that Rip's head circumference is now 1 cm bigger than Jolly's. Well. That does explain why sunglasses and sunhats seem to fit both boys the same. (Only an inch or so to go until he passes Ephiny's head circumference actually.) It's not surprising that we were ordered to an ultrasound of Rip's head earlier this month. After several conversations with the panicky radiologists who saw the diagnosis code and FLIPPED OUT and wanted to know if I could come in LATER THIS AFTERNOON? (No? REALLY? But then you'll have to wait until AFTER THE WEEKEND!) and then due to panicky nature of receptionist having a mis-scheduled appointment (we ended up showing up to 24 hrs early due to being told the wrong time), and then they squeezed us in anyway due to the EMERGENCY NATURE of the ultrasound, to reveal that Rip's enormous head includes... enormous brains, and nothing besides enormous brain. No water, no tumors, etc. Hurray. Which is good, because I think the total number of organ systems we can be worried about at once is less than or equal to ONE. But respiratory and nervous both seem top notch. And, bile duct/gallbladder ultrasound on May 30th will give us an update before we go off to gallivant on sunny French beaches for two weeks. Keep fingers crossed that things haven't advanced enough to require imminent surgery, and that a more varied source of calories has been agreeing with Rip's liver as well as it appears to be agreeing with the rest of him!
