Reading milestone

Tonight was the first time Jolly announced, "I don't want you to read me a bedtime story, I want to read this book instead." The book in question is a young reader version of Sinbad the Sailor he got from the library today. We are thrilled that he is finally excited about reading to himself; it's been a long time coming. While we love reading to our children, we want them to love reading on their own as well. We have been wondering when this would happen for Jolly, as until recently it's been a struggle to get him to read (rather than flipping through the pictures or having someone else read to him). He seems to have finally reached a level of reading ability where the pleasure of the story outweighs the amount of work he has to do.
