Jolly can now say "Apfel" (German for apple). He also says "Dee" for deer and "Ei" (German for egg). When he sees a picture of a car, he says "Vrrrr." When he sees a picture of a horse, he makes a neighing sound (though he has been known to make the same sound for such non-horse animals as a rabbit and a penguin).
He can correctly identify most parts of the body, and can distinguish between "mine" and "yours": "Where is my nose?" (Points to my nose) "Where is your nose?" (Points to his own nose).
He still wants to know the words for everything, so his favorite word is still "das?" Currently the Animal Baby magazines (courtesy of Grammy and Poppi) are a big hit:
"Das?" "Fish." "Das?" "Penguin." "Das?" "Rabbit." "Das?" "Bear." (Repeat 5-10 times, then turn the page.)

ReplyDeleteWe took Ella to a petting zoo the other day - the deer looked incredibly puzzled to be neighed at in such an enthusiastic fashion :-P
